Bickerstaffe Treat Day organised by the Bickerstaffe Treat Day Committee took place on Saturday 8th June 2019. Unfortunately due to the weather it took place inside the barn. However the damp weather didn’t dampen our
spirits and everyone had a lot of fun.
The first Bickerstaffe Treat Day took place in 1877. This fantastic event began with the Morris Dancing procession from school to the barn.
Bickerstaffe Treat Day is is now one of only four traditional Morris Dancing groups in the country.
Next – Maypole dancing then afterwards the community enjoyed refreshments whilst listening to the fabulous Skelmersdale Prize Band.
Entertainer Mr Stix also added entertainment during the afternoon.
A big thank-you to everyone who helped with the day and thank-you to everyone who came to support this tradition. The next Treat Day will be 13th BiJune 2020.
