As you are aware Armed Forces Day is Saturday 30 June 2018.
As in previous years, as many of you know, we have taken part in a national “Fly the Flag” campaign to replicate the flag raising ceremonies in London. We will be flying the flag from Monday 25 June until the actual day itself to support and recognise the contribution that the Armed Forces community makes to the United Kingdom.
This year, we are holding the ceremony at the Cenotaph in Coronation Park, Ormskirk at 5.00 p.m. on Monday 25 June 2018 to which you are all invited. The Band will be playing from 4.45 p.m. and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Gail Stanley, will be in attendance to present the flag to the Mayor of West Lancashire, Councillor Noel Delaney.
You are all welcome to attend and we trust that you will make a big effort to attend in order that we, in West Lancashire, show our support and appreciation to our Armed Forces and to recognise the sacrifices they make for our country each and every day.
Afterwards, you are very welcome to join the Mayor for tea and coffee at Brookside Retirement Living Scheme on Aughton Street, Ormskirk.
