With the festive season well underway, Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service (LFRS) is launching its Winter Safety Campaign. Over the next few months there will be a range of activities and initiatives across the County aimed at reducing fire risk but also with the hope of helping those in our communities that are less fortunate and most vulnerable.
Within West Lancashire, they hope to work closely with partners such as the VCFS to complement and assist similar activity. They hope to be able to work with others to reach out to, and positively impact on the wellbeing of those identified as:
Within fuel poverty
Likely to be subject to social isolation
Have no fixed abode or defined as homeless
Whilst they have some data from which it can draw on to target persons/groups, they believe they can be most effective working in partnership with organisations that:
Have accurate and relevant data
Have experience in helping such persons
Have the ability to contact and gain access to premises
Are willing to work alongside LFRS
LFRS will provide staff to visit individual homes or to attend events such as soup kitchens, where they will provide advice or just someone to talk to. They have access to some resources such as smoke alarms, heaters (limited number), and are presently asking for donations of clothing, sleeping bags, ruck sacks etc which will be made available to those that can benefit from such items.
If your organisation can help then LF&RS would like to work in partnership with you.
