My name is Mark Grimes, I am the male domestic abuse support worker at the Liberty centre in West Lancashire. I have a broad range of experience from working within Children’s Social Care, Children’s Centres and the Wellbeing Prevention and Early help Service as well as working as a volunteer for a local Male support group for the last 13 years.
I work across West Lancashire supporting male victims of domestic violence ensuring that they are safe and have access to all relevant support agencies such as housing, legal advice and the Police. I can also access a counselling service ensuring that we promote positive emotional health and wellbeing.
The male support workers role is a new role for The Liberty Centre, who traditionally have used female staff to support male victims over the last 30 years. It is important that we work together to ensure male victims have access to the same support that is available to female victims so please promote the male worker and make it the “norm” to refer both men and women to the Liberty Centre.
Please share this news with your colleagues, contacts and friends and let’s make West Lancashire a safer place for male and female victims of domestic violence
I look forward to meeting you in the near future
