Success for Ormskirk man, Sam Formby!

Last March, local residents and business’ of Ormskirk took part in a fundraiser Red Carpet Ball at Hurlston Hall to raise an exceptional amount of £8,500 to buy a hand-cycle for Sam Formby – a popular Ormskirk guy – organised by a friend of his, David Luton.

David first saw Sam three years ago at Edge Hill Sports Centre, Ormskirk, and like so many people, only seemed to notice the wheelchair and seldom the person in it. As months passed, he noticed him training in the gym every single day, and so watched and witnessed how determined and consistent he was to improve his situation. As Sam’s determination and persistence to strive to be the best he can be is truly inspirational, he informed David that he would like to be able to support others who suffer from a disability, and one of his many ways to do this is to complete six marathons.

As a result of Sam’s aims and ambitions, a new hand-cycle was needed in order for Sam to make this possible, no matter how hard the challenges may seem…

Due to David’s hard work and continuous support (and a little help from friends), Sam was presented with his new hand-cycle at Edge Hill Sports Centre, alongside friends, family and staff who train and encounter his witty banter on a regular basis.
On behalf of everyone who helped make this possible, a massive thank you goes out to each and every single person involved!
