The Sandpiper names its ‘Top Taster’ in celebration of its reopening

The Sandpiper, part of the Vintage Inns collection, located on Holly Farm Ormskirk Old Road, recently reopened its doors following a major refurbishment, bringing a beautiful new look to this Ormskirk local.

As a thank you to Ormskirk for all its support, the landlord of the Sandpiper, Dominic Dunning, held a vote amongst the team to elect a ‘Top Taster’ who would be invited to taste new menu items, help with bar selections and provide honest opinions and recommendations for the pub.

With the final votes cast, Dominic Dunning has officially named Lesley Dawson – Heath as the Sandpiper’s official ‘Top Taster’, and is looking forward to showcasing all the pubs’ new and exciting features to her, and working together to discover Lesley’s recommendations on behalf of Ormskirk and what the town would like to see from the pub in the future.
Lesley, the Sandpiper’s Top Taster says, “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been chosen by the team at the Sandpiper’s as its Top Taster, the change has been amazing. I’m really proud of the team and all the work they’ve put in to retain the pub’s character, and the new look is simply the cherry on top of the cake!”

Visitors to the Sandpiper can enjoy the pub throughout the year, from roaring fires in winter as well as the picturesque beer garden, which has received extra lighting and seating, making the Sandpiper a great place to dine al fresco in the long summer days. They can also sample the amazing selection of gins, ales and wines on offer behind the bar and try out some of the freshly prepared British dishes from the new menu, and the Sandpiper hopes that the new look is a welcome change in Ormskirk.

Additional seating has also been introduced in the dining area, allowing even more space for guests to enjoy the food, drink and atmosphere of the Sandpiper whatever the weather.

Dominic Dunning, landlord of the Sandpiper, said: “We wanted the new look to provide guests with a cosy pub where they can enjoy dinner, have a few drinks after a long country walk with their four-legged friends or simply to relax and read the Sunday paper.

“The Sandpiper is in a fantastic location in a converted farmhouse on the outskirts of Ormskirk, and we have an amazing support network around us, so we hope that all of our guests, both regulars and first-timers love the transformation.”

The Sandpiper celebrated the reopening with a brand-new menu certain to tickle the taste buds of guests, with new dishes including Lamb Duo that is a pan – fired lamp rump and a cheddar – topped shepherd’s pie, with seasonal vegetables and a red wine jus, and a host of mouth-watering puddings including a warming Sticky toffee & apple pudding.

To celebrate its new-look, the Sandpiper is holding a ‘Taste of Vintage’ event where guests will be able to sample a selection of the new dishes, chat to Dominic and the team, as well celebrate with a free glass of bubbly. The event will be taking place on Friday 27th October from 7pm.
